The Film Noir, Jazz In Film Project presents the music of famous Noir movies in a jazz setting, with an interesting summary of the film, Hollywood trivia regarding the movie, director, leading actors and of course the composer.
A wide range of films reflected the tensions and insecurities of the Cold War Period with themes of fear, mistrust, bleakness, loss of innocence, despair and paranoia are readily evident in Noir. Music composed for Film Noir reflected these themes often incorporating the sound of jazz during the 40s and 50s. Theme music from The Lost Weekend, China Town, Man With The Golden Arm, Laura, As Time Goes By (Casablanca), Double Indemnity, White Heat, and others.
